Sermons

/files/Bonus Material/Sermons.jpgWe are a “teaching” church. We love to read and study the Scriptures, to “rightly divide” and apply them to everyday life. The foundation for this approach comes from the Word itself. For example, in 1 Timothy 4:13, the Apostle Paul told Timothy: “Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. The words, “the public reading of Scripture”, all translate a single expression in the original language of the Bible. That expression is “the reading”. In the long history of Jewish worship, the public reading of Scripture was so central and so much of a priority, it became known simply as “the reading”. The remaining terms give equal emphasis to the explanation and practical application of the Scriptures that are read.

“The reading, the application, and the teaching” serve as a template for the approach we take to sermon preparation and delivery each Sunday. We believe in the power of God’s Word thus preached to inform our perspectives, to produce faith, to build community, and to transform our lives.
